You’ve come to the right place.

Serving Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire
Attorney Referrals

Are you a lawyer from outside of Maine or New England looking to refer a case?

Or are you a local Maine, New Hampshire or Vermont lawyer who just doesn’t handle contingent-fee work?

Either way, you’ve come to the right place.

We can help.  Our firm’s business involves making money for other lawyers from Maine or other States around the country who send us cases that do not fit within their own law practices.  By doing that, you can clear those papers off the edge of your desk, make sure your clients get the prompt and responsive attention they deserve and create a new revenue stream for your own practice.

Many of you already know us from cases we have worked on or organizations that we participate in together.

For those of you who don’t know us, Ben and Taylor both grew up in Maine and earned their JDs from the Yale Law School.  Following law school, Ben and Taylor each completed Federal clerkships and began their careers at large firms in New York City before returning to Maine to represent injured individuals.

For the past seventeen years, Ben has been a partner and owner of one of Maine’s largest and most successful plaintiff practices.  Taylor began his legal career at a prominent plaintiff class action firm, and in 2016 returned to Maine to join Ben’s former firm.

We recognize that you have choices about where to refer valuable contingent-fee cases.  If you have not worked with us before, we welcome the opportunity to show you why, we believe, we should be your first choice to handle high-value cases and important clients.

Proven Results.  Over the past decade, we have recovered over $130 million for clients, including more than $50 million in medical malpractice cases.  The results include 31 verdicts or settlements for more than $1 million, several eight-figure results and seven-figure results in five different States.  These cases have included a broad range of complex matters, including industrial and maritime accidents, product liability and high-stakes litigation against Fortune 500 defendants.

Compassionate and Exceptional Service. You will be confident that your clients will receive compassionate and exceptional service—from the very first call to the end of the case.  Your clients will thank you for making the referral.

Integrity and Trust.  Our approach to the law and to relationships centers on integrity and trust.  When we make a promise, we keep it.  We are transparent about the referral fees we pay, and we always honor our agreement.  We do this because it’s the right thing to do, and because it’s good business.  We want you to send us the next case.

Giving Back.  Gideon Asen LLC is the only Maine law firm member of 1% for the Planet, committed to giving 1% of our annual revenues to environmental nonprofit organizations.

Sense of Humor and Fun.  We believe that life is too short to go through without humor and fun along the way.  We take the work seriously, but we try not to take ourselves too seriously.  We genuinely enjoy the camaraderie and friendship that accompany our many co-counsel relationships.

If you would like to speak with either of us about a case or just brainstorm ideas, please call or email us anytime.  Because we know you are busy and value your time, we have created a calendar portal below where you can schedule a 30-minute call directly with Ben or Taylor without the need to call our office ahead of time to set that up.

Ben co-hosts a bi-weekly podcast, Elawvate, where lawyers learn, share and grow to elevate their practices, firms, and lives.  Each week, the hosts invite highly successful lawyers (and some nonlawyers) to discuss the human factors and guiding principles behind their own successes.  The show offers wisdom and lessons to help lawyers across all practice areas and seeks to motivate and inspire listeners at the same time.  Those interested can find more information, subscribe to the show or join the Elawvate Facebook community at
