A grieving Maine mother is suing two medical facilities, alleging the negligence of their medical providers led to the untimely death of her 15-year-old daughter, Jasmine “Jazzy” Vincent.

What Happened?

Initially complaining of a simple cough and cold symptoms on July 14, 2021, the high school cheerleader received a pneumonia diagnosis from pediatricians. But as Jazzy’s symptoms worsened, she and her mother consulted multiple other physicians, including a nurse practitioner at Martin’s Point Health Care and a gynecologist at Mid Coast Medical Group for answers. Although Jazzy’s condition worsened with each passing day, medical providers failed to order more advanced tests such as X-rays, scans, or blood tests. Moreover, the complaint alleges the medical professionals caring for Jazzy were careless about relaying critical messages, one of which included a doctor’s order for Jazzy to be taken to the emergency room for further care. Jazzy died of cardiac arrest on August 1st, 2021, just 18 days after she began feeling sick.
