Taylor Asen named to Board of Governors of American Association for Justice
Gideon Asen partner Taylor Asen has been named to the national Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice (AAJ), the nonprofit advocacy and lobbying organization for plaintiff’s lawyers in the United States. Asen will be Maine’s Revitalization Board Member, a position reserved for an attorney in his or her first 15 years of practice. He will be one of three members of the Board of Governors from Maine.
“AAJ is critical to protecting the rights of Americans to seek justice through the civil court system,” said Asen. “It is an honor to be asked to have a leadership role in such an important organization.”
Asen and his partner Ben Gideon are also on the Board of Governors for the Maine Trial Lawyers Association (MTLA), the Maine chapter of AAJ. For several years, Asen has served as co-chair of MTLA’s Legislative Committee. During his time as co-chair of the Legislative Committee, the MTLA has had important legislative successes. Among other things, MTLA has successfully advocated for increases of the cap of Wrongful Death claims in two separate occasions. The cap has been raised from $500,000 to $1,000,000.
